12 Moves: After Dark spectacular
14 Feb 2012
Worcester will come alive with dance on Saturday 24 March 2012 as 12 Moves brings its free spectacular outdoor performance to the Croft Road railway arches with film, dance and live music.
Worcester city centre will be animated with dancers throughout the morning, showcasing the best of the city’s talent as part of the three-year project getting Worcestershire dancing for London 2012.
During the afternoon, Worcester’s newest iconic building The Hive hosts an afternoon of activities for all the family. 12 Moves at The Hive will feature music, promenade performances, exhibitions, film, interactive projections, Worcestershire’s Museum on the Move and the weird and wonderful Cabinet of Curious Collectables.
As night falls, 12 Moves: After Dark transforms the grand Croft Road railway arches into a gigantic cinema screen. In a one-off son et lumière performance, digital artists SDNA use film, animation, light and sound to create a mysterious Victorian dance fairytale. Dancers will pop-up around the crowds, accompanied with live music from renowned composer Mira Calix.
The Croft Road site will be open from 4.30pm with the Breathe the Beat roadshow showcasing local dance talent. Audiences can also learn the 12 moves, simple dance steps that everyone can learn, and join in on the night.
Both 12 Moves at The Hive and 12 Moves: After Dark are free one-off events, suitable for all the family and are produced by Dancefest, the dance development organisation for Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
