Spill on The Space

04 Jul 2012

Spill – A Playground of Dance, the outdoor dance show produced by Birmingham-based DanceXchange, has been made into a series of films and will be shown on The Space.

Spill A Playground of Dance

The show, which was choreographed by celebrated Australian Artist Shaun Parker and has been touring the West Midlands over the last six weeks, was chosen to feature on The Space, a new digital platform created by Arts Council England in partnership with the BBC which aims to bring innovative digital interpretations of different art forms to an international audience.

Combining quirky, dynamic dance with high energy street gymnastics, Spill is part of the recently launched London 2012 Festival, and uses children’s playground equipment as the set. The series of films, produced by DanceXchange and Maverick TV, comprises 10 short episodes and a 30 minute film, that capture the performance of Spill, alongside interviews with the performers, Shaun Parker and the rest of the creative team.

Each of the ten episodes, which will be released over the next month, concentrate on a different element of the show, including how the show has used the Seesaw, Swing, and Basketball. At the end of July, a special 30 minute film will be aired, which includes all of the episodes.
