World of Dance
World of Dance aims to inspire people in Stoke-on-Trent of all ages, skills and abilities to make dance part of their everyday lives.
So far, over 5,000 people have taken part in World of Dance workshops in numerous settings, from care homes and the Girl Guides to University of the Third Age, community carnivals and after school clubs.
Other projects to date include Rites of Endeavour where audiences at Victoria Hall enjoyed a celebration of Caribbean dance from over 400 young people. Large-scale tea dances have seen young and old alike take to the floor for ballroom and modern sequence to a big band sound.
In the lead up to London 2012, groups in Stoke-on-Trent can experience free dance taster workshops and lessons in belly dance, bhangra, salsa, ballroom, hip-hop/street dance or burlesque, with a whole host of large scale events planned for summer 2012.
