As part of Stoke-on-Trent’s World of Dance project, which has got over 9,000 people dancing over the last two years, everyone will be invited to grab a dance partner and glide across the tailor-made sprung wooden dance floor.

Tickets are £4 for the event on 14 June 7.30 – 11.30pm at Kings Hall, Kingsway, off Glebe Street, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 1RG.

Punch in partnership with International Dance Festival Birmingham (IDFB) presents Desi Moves, where celebrity judges Foji, top Bollywood choreographer Honey, and local street dance champion Toffee will be deciding the ‘Best Desi Mover(s)’ of 2012 and win the cash prize on the night.

Host on the night are BBC Asian Network favourites Raj and Pablo and Britain’s Got Talent finalists Signature will be showing why they are Britain’s top Michael Jackson tribute with a live performance.

The winner will claim the title of Best Desi Mover(s), a prize of £1000, a trophy and a fantastic opportunity to perform at Sandwell and Birmingham Mela on the day of the Olympic Torch relay as part of The Cultural Olympiad and the build-up to London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The free event on Sunday 1 July, 2-8pm will feature a Breathe the Beat Roadshow as well as live performances from Retina Dance Company, professional dancers, young people and community groups. There will also be a chance to take part in one of the fantastic workshops where you can learn a range of different dance styles, from breakdance to ballroom.

Bring your picnic and enjoy the dance film tent, watch the circus performers or simply enjoy the atmosphere!

Roadshows will be happening during the Leamington Peace Festival on Saturday 16th June and in Mell Square, Solihull on Saturday 14th July, showcasing the best competition entrants, local talent and professional dance companies. The roadshow performers will share the event with B-boy Brooke & B-girl Roxy from Plague Dance Crew – Hip Hop International World Champions and DJ Moyma.

Just go to the Encompass website and create a short dance video that will be projected as part of a moving collage at the live performance in Much Wenlock, Shropshire in July.

The “create your kaleidoscope” option is best for where there is less space (ie. at home where they may not be much room to dance), while the “Use your webcam to record your dance” option is good when there is more space.

Believe is an evening of colour, carnival-inspired costume, storytelling, new high-energy dance and inspiring talent. As part of the Cultural Olympiad in the West Midlands Believe brings together 450 children and young people and five professional dance artists in one night of inspiring performance at an Olympic Venue.

Summer 2012 will see the City of Coventry Stadium play host to the Olympic Football Tournament, bringing together top athletes from across the world. Believe carries echoes of this future event, bringing together children and young people from across the region and taking inspiration from the Olympic and Paralympic Games of London 2012.

Inspired by their dramatic architecture, Jeyasingh’s striking choreography contrasts and complements the rhythms and shapes of these historic buildings. TooMortal offers surprising new perspectives, with the dancers travelling over the pews on a powerful and mesmerising journey.
